Welcome back!

Back in February, we went to Vietnam! It’s the second time we’ve gone as a couple and we shot a wedding there too; which was just one of the best parts. Although culturally, politically and economically different, there is something about Vietnam that seems very familiar for both of us and gives us a feeling of being “home.” It was funny, but there was a couple of instances where it’d hit us and we’d say to each other, “Dude…we’re in another country right now.” (Hahaha!)

We stayed with Khai’s relatives in the city of Hồ Chí Minh and from there we traveled together to Đà Nẵng, Hội An, and Huế. We navigated our way through a sea of scooters and explored the riches that Vietnam has to offer with their delicious cuisine and breathtaking landscapes and monuments. And what made these trips even more memorable and fun are the proud and yet humble people who shout “CHEERS” from across the table to you. On an 80 degree humid night, we chipped off a chunk of ice into our warm frothy beer, raised our glasses high and shouted “VÔ” right back at them.

We’re glad to be back home in California, but we can’t wait to go back.

There There’s Khai right in the middle! Can you see Vanessa in the mirror? Home cooked meals with the family are always the best; of course, with plenty of beer! Home cooked meals with the family are always the best; of course, with plenty of beer!

The Dragon Bridge (Cầu Rồng) over River Hàn in Da Nang. Every weekend night at 9pm, it releases a breath of fire.  The Dragon Bridge (Cầu Rồng) over River Hàn in Da Nang. Every weekend night at 9pm, it releases a breath of fire.

We were fascinated and impressed to see how the locals transported large items on their scooters. Everyone was buying their festive plants to ring in the Lunar New Year.
