Welcome back!

Wedding Day Emergency Kit. Yes. We all want to believe deep down that IF our wedding is planned JUST RIGHT and down to a tee, that NOTHING will (or should) go wrong, right? Well, I don’t want to start this blog and say that something will go wrong, but are you prepared for the what if situation? As photographers, we have seen a few situations where the bride and groom encounter just a few hiccups, to the “Oooooooh my goodness” situations. Here is a list of what you should make sure you absolutely include with you for every part of the day.

BRIDE
Pre-Ceremony:
*Food/Energy Bar (Be sure to at least snack! Reception is a long ways away!)
*Water (Same concept, stay hydrated!)
*Cell Phone Charger
*Asprin
*Band-aids (small, med & large!)
*Eye drops
*Shoes–Heel Cushions
*Shoes–Non-Slip Grip Pads
*Dental Floss/Toothpick
*Extra Earring Backs
*Tweezers
*Feminine Products
*Wet Naps
*Large umbrella (You never know & you want it to cover the most of you.)
*Scotch Tape
*Sewing Kit, Sewing Kit, SEWING KIT.
*Hem Tape
*Body Tape (Make sure it’s not just double sided tape but tape designed to go on skin! Test WEEKS beforehand! Don’t find out the day before that you and that tape are not compatible.)
*New razy Glue (Not the old one from the kitchen drawer) If you accidentally clipped one thread to the beading on your dress, what will happen is that you will get a snowball effect. Because the beading is usually hand sewn, that ONE thread might be holding up a lot of beads–and it was just clipped! As soon as you notice it, stop, find the ripped ends, and CAREFULLY & CALMLY glue both down. Just a spot is all you need on each ripped end. CLEAR NAIL POLISH WORKS TOO!
*New Small Scissors (It will give you a clean cut on fabric, with no frayed edges.)
*Stain Spot Remover. (Test on dummy satin fabric before hand to make sure it would work on your dress.)
*EXTRA BEADED APPLIQUE & A BIT OF SATIN! (Quick horror story–As mentioned in my last post, my folks family business was special occasion dresses, including weddings. Early one morning, my mother had a customer run frantically to her, on the day of her wedding, begging to help her fix A HUGE BURNED IN IRON MARK. Seriously. Full face iron burned on the FRONT of the dress’ skirt. My mother worked her last minute magic, concealed it first with satin fabric, then placed applique over it to create a symmetrical design, and voilà! What mark? I HOPE THIS NEVER–EVER–EVER HAPPENS TO YOU! Remember, you don’t need to typically iron any wedding dress. But if you must, start at the bottom edge, on a LOW setting, with a zen mindset. But keep this in your kit for anything else that might ruin your dress (lipstick/wine/food/etc) when all other remedies fail.

Ceremony (LAST CHANCE!):
*Chalk (A client had marks on her dress and it worked. Mom covered those last minute smudges before the isle walk)
*Travel Size Tissues (Hand to Maid of Honor)
*Breath Mint Strips (Smaller & Faster! No Gum!)
*Hair Spray
*Deodorant
*Facial Blotting Paper
*Perfume
*Compact Mirror
*Touch Up Makeup
*Touch Up Nail Kit (Seriously, you should have this too.)
*Drinking Straw (Don’t ruin your lipstick.)
*Safety Pins
*Hair Pins
*TURN OFF/MUTE CELLPHONE

Don’t forget maybe some comfortable shoes to dance in!

*Concealer Makeup (For last minute Zit’s or Pimples)

Of course, you will add or subtract from this list, but know that these items are listed because they are details some might overlook. Additionally, if you’re working with a wedding coordinator, she will supply you with I’m sure, an even more extensive list. But be prepared for whatever might happen, and be a well informed and ready for anything, bride & groom.

Have an amazing day and remember to breathe.
